College Professor at Ferris State University, Digital Artist, and Vagabond Escapist based in Grand Rapids, MI. Andrew Smith was born on October second in Detroit. His childhood was spent growing up in Kentwood, Michigan where he shared his time between his Sega Genisis, playing ice hockey, and suiting up on the football field. After high school, he spent a legendary five years at Ferris State University where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Digital Animation and Game Design. While experimenting in many different mediums, he found his true passion for digital art by working with companies like Yeti CGI, Sideshow Collectibles, the University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies, and the University of Michigan's 3D Lab.
     
Andrew spent many years traveling the Unites States in search to explore the truths behind his artistic calling, he then found himself working ammoungst some of the most inovative and creative companies and institutions in the entertainment industry. His experience gained him enterance to speak at many of the industries leading conferences like the Game Education Summit 2010 in Los Angeles, California and SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver, Canda. His knowledge also transfered into many leading publications with companies like 3D Total and CG Tantra. He also has spent time in Burbank, CA serving as an official film jurist for the 2011 International Family Film Festival. He also participated in the 2009 Kalamazoo Animation Festival International's Cartoon Challenge. He has been activly volunteering at the Game Developers Conference since 2006 as a Conference Associate.GDC has since been held in San Jose and San Fransisco, CA.
